There really isn’t a conspiracy against Samsung; a lot of people are rooting for them to succeed. The Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and the Galaxy Note 5 have all been great phones. They have received excellent reviews, but are now considered disappointments because they did not live up to sales expectations.
Pictures and specs have leaked for Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The features are pretty much official. It has been confirmed by 9to5Google that the Galaxy S7 Edge (which will probably be Samsung’s flagship model since the S6 Edge was in more demand than the regular S6) will have a monstrous 3,600mAh battery. For a comparison, the Galaxy Note 5 has a 3,000mAh battery and it provides the best battery life out of any phone currently available on the market.
“]BGR says that Samsung’s new smartphone will bring back the microSD card slot that was missing from the S6 models. It will also have either a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 12MP rear-facing camera. The 12MP camera may upset some, especially because Samsung’s current phones have 16MP cameras. However, the 12MP one will not protrude.
The 12MP sensor really shouldn’t be that big of a problem. One has to remember that tmore megapixels doesn’t necessarily mean a better image. There are other factors that determine the quality of an image. This is common sense for smartphone camera enthusiasts, but Samsung will definitely need to convince the general public why the new Galaxy S7 camera isn’t so much a step back.
One of the biggest reasons to upgrade to the Galaxy S7 may be the Gear 360, a camera that takes 360 degree videos that can be seen on virtual reality headsets. Samsung is expected to announced the new camera along with the Galaxy S7 at the Samsung Unpacked 2016 event in Barcelona on February 21.
The Galaxy S7 would act as the controller for the Gear 360 and transfer videos through Bluetooth. Then, one can just put the Galaxy S7 in the Gear VR and step into their recent virtual reality videos. It hasn’t been revealed whether or not the Gear 360 will work with previous Samsung Galaxy devices.
Samsung continues to be an innovative company. Their fortunes have been going down the past three years, but that hasn’t stopped the Korean company from trying. 2016 can really be the year Samsung finally turns things around.
