It’s the first week of July and it’s the perfect time to buy the latest technology products to help you celebrate your 4th of July. Here are some items that are on sale this week.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and, especially, the Galaxy S6 Edge, are groundbreaking smartphones. You can buy either one at Best Buy, sign a two-year contract, and get a $100 gift card. You better use that to buy a screen protector and case -- the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge need them. While sales of these smartphones haven't gone through the roof as many thought, Samsung's new phones are groundbreaking devices, even if they resemble the latest iPhone a little too much. You'll find out that with either of these phones, you won't need to carry around an extra digital camera. These smartphones also take fantastic 4K Ultra HD movies that look unbelievably detailed on a 4K television. The actual Galaxy S6 screen is absolutely stunning.
WD My Passport Ultra 1TB Premium Portable Storage
Back up your files. Actually, back them up twice! Go to Fry's and get this ultra-portable external drive from WD for $69.99 -- that's $15 off the regular price. WD offers excellent support on their Passport drives. If something goes wrong with your drive, they will try and see if they can get the data off of it. They replace your drive within a matter of days. When WD started selling portable external hard drives in the 2000s, there were a lot of complaints. The quality of the "My Passport" drives has increased considerably over the past five years or so.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (128 GB, Intel Core i5)
The Surface Pro 3 is considered the most innovative laptop/tablet hybrid that has ever existed. You can buy the Intel Core i5 version with 128GB storage for only $885 on Amazon.com -- that's $114 off the regular price. The Surface Pro 4 may or may not be around the corner, but you won't lose much with the Surface Pro 3 , especially since some say the Surface Pro 4 won't be much of an upgrade. The price, unfortunately, doesn't include the Touch Keyboard, which will run you an extra $120 on Amazon.com. In any case, if you should decide to purchase the Surface Pro 3 now, make sure you upgrade to the latest preview version of Windows 10; it really brings out the capabilities in Microsoft's groundbreaking device.
