This Week’s Best Technology Deals

It’s back to school time and there are plenty of deals for students, teachers, or even parents of students. Here are some of them:

iPad mini 3 Wi-Fi 16GB – Silver

The iPad mini 3 might have not been a huge hit, but that's only because of the iPhone 6 Plus. If you don't have the iPhone 6 Plus, the mini is still a good buy. You get a touch id fingerprint sensor with a screen that has a stunning 2048x1536 pixel resolution -- that's 264 dots per inch! Apple's A7 processor helps speed things along -- certainly more than the iPad mini 2. This iPad is also very light and includes stereo speakers for multimedia viewing. You can buy the iPad mini 3 (16GB WiFi version) for only $299 at Best Buy -- that's $100 off the regular price. Don't listen to what anybody says; you will find the iPad mini 3 very useful.

Dell Inspiron 13.3″ Touchscreen Convertible Intel Core i3-5010U LaptopĀ  (4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive)

This Dell Inspiron computer is on sale at Fry's for $599 -- that's $50 off the regular price. This is the perfect computer for those who don't use heavy graphics programs, but just need something to get some office work done on. Unlike Dell's other computers, this Inspiron actually has a real hard drive, not a SSD drive, which is more stable -- but costs a lot more. Even though this computer only as a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution screen, the colors are sharp and the viewing angles are excellent. The battery life is absolutely fantastic and you won't need to lug a charger with you all the time. The Dell Inspiron makes a perfect secondary computer or a decent primary computer for those who don't need a lot of power.

Pencil by FiftyThree Digital Stylus for iPad and iPhone

The iPad and iPhone are not made for digital note taking. However, there have been clumsy styluses made with rubber tips that are supposed to do the job. For some, they are good enough. Others may want to buy a more advanced stylus such as this one from FiftyThree Digital for more precise writing. It doesn't feel as natural as writing on something like the Galaxy Note, but it writes somewhat smoothly and is very much worth it's price at $49.99 at Amazon.com. Several of the reviewers on Amazon.com note that the Pencil works well with all apps. Besides working well, the Pencil looks good. It will definitely help you with productivity.
